Fun Gifts for Your Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

When it comes to weddings there are more people involved than just the bride and groom. If you are interested in having the best wedding possible, it is also important to remember the people who have been with you during the entire planning process, and who will stand with you during the ceremony: your bridesmaids and groomsmen. In years past, bridesmaids and groomsmen were given small tokens of appreciation, usually small, traditional gifts such as cufflinks or hair accessories. Recently, however, it has become standard practice to purchase less traditional gifts for your bridesmaids and groomsmen, fun and funky gifts that make a stronger statement. There are lots of things that you can get them, and there are plenty of ways to personalize the gifts, to thank them for being a part of your special day.

Think Useful

Many times, gifts have a couple of parts. The first part might be entirely useful. Often, brides and grooms feel bad that it costs bridesmaids and groomsmen so much money to be in the wedding. Brides often give their maids the jewelry that they would like them to wear in the wedding for a gift, so that the bridesmaids don’t have to worry about purchasing that jewelry along with everything else. You can do the same with hair accessories or even shoes. For groomsmen, who are usually able to rent a tux for a cheaper rate, you can also do something useful. A money holder, a flask, or even a golf-tee set are all gifts that you might give to your men that will be useful for them. Remember that although it is a wedding and although the day is all about the two of you, if you can think a little bit about your bridesmaids and groomsmen and think about what it is that they might like, you may be able to have a better idea of gifts that you can give them that are useful.

Think Fun

If your bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts have two parts, you will probably want the second part to be fun. For both girls and guys, this might mean shot glasses, or even bottles of wine and liquor. For the bridesmaids and groomsmen who do not drink, you might include gifts such as CDs, hats and other accessories, or even fun toys that remind them of their childhood days. The point of these types of gifts should be to thank them, and to let them have a little bit of fun. For these gifts, then, it is important to think about what the recipient would like to receive – these are more personal than the useful types of gifts.

Think Personalized

Another exciting possibility for these types of gifts is to choose gifts that can be personalized. Often, this can be a fun way to bring the entire wedding party together, and unite your bridesmaids and groomsmen as friends of you both. There are lots of fun things that you can get personalized. All of the things that you might have already thought about – beer mugs, key chains, or money clips, or just about anything else, can be personalized with their names or initials, and with your names or the wedding date. Then, your gifts will not only be useful and fun; they will be personalized as well.

When you are choosing bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts, there are a few things to think about so that you can make the right selections. Remember, although its tempting to get everyone the same thing, sometimes you might decide to get different gifts for all of your bridesmaids and groomsmen, and that’s okay too. The main thing that you want to think about is who your bridesmaids and groomsmen are. Are they teenagers, or are they older? Are they married or single? Are they students or professionals? If you know who they are, you will have a better idea of what types of things they will like and what they will not.

Next, you need to think about what they like. A bottle of wine might be fine for one attendant, but another might not like to drink. A golf set might be an excellent gift for a few of your groomsmen, but what about those that do not enjoy playing golf? It is going to be important for you to decide which of your bridesmaids and groomsmen like certain things, so that you can come up with great ideas for them.

Also, do not forget the little ones. If you have junior bridesmaids and groomsmen, or if you have a flower girl or a ring bearer, you need to be sure to remember gifts for them as well. Of course they will not be receiving the same types of gifts are their older counterparts – but remember that ideally you will want to choose a gift which will serve as a reminder of the wedding.
